A pioneer in the application of artificial intelligence in the field of mutual insurance companies collaborating with Social Security, in 2019 the organisation incorporated predictive artificial intelligence models to support decision-making and improve healthcare management. Currently, we continue to advance in the adoption of AI technologies, advanced analytics and generative AI solutions, through a scalable, secure strategy aimed at generating value for people, the professional community and associated companies.


AI Governance Model

The organisation has a comprehensive Artificial Intelligence Governance Model, an organisational, regulatory and operational framework integrated into the Corporate Artificial Intelligence System, which promotes the use of this technology under criteria of security, ethics, transparency and regulatory compliance.

The company's artificial intelligence governance model, which allows for the oversight of the entire lifecycle of AI solutions from the identification and evaluation of use cases to their implementation, monitoring, and continuous tracking, is based on a Corporate Artificial Intelligence Policy that aligns with the European AI Regulation, data protection regulations, the National Security Scheme and Mutua Universal's internal security and compliance policies.

Artificial Intelligence Office

The central piece of the governance model is the Office of Artificial Intelligence (OIA), responsible for defining the corporate strategy, establishing the governance framework, promoting the adoption of AI-based solutions and ensuring the homogeneous application of standards, methodologies and best practices.

To ensure responsible, safe, and effective management of artificial intelligence, the AI ​​Office is supported by specialised governing bodies:

  • The AI Strategic Committee, responsible for defining priorities, monitoring the roadmap and evaluating the impact of initiatives;
  • The AI Ethics Committee, which is responsible for ensuring the responsible use of this technology and for upholding ethical principles and fundamental rights;
  • The Information Security Committee, which guarantees compliance with security, privacy and information protection requirements, in alignment with the National Security Scheme and the current regulatory framework.
