National Plan against the radon (PNR)

The Directive 2013/59/Euratom establishes that member countries must promote and to approve a PNR, that collects policies to reduce the health risk of the town because of the exhibition to the radon in closed enclosures, are already housing, public places or work centres.

Countries as an Italy or France come fulfilling this obligation for years for it have fourth editions of its plans, as it is the case of France.

Spain from beginnings of 2024 has the first Plan to protect the health of the set of one the town when dealing with the risk derived from the exhibition to the gas radon, that it owes be revised every 5 years.

Galician strategy Reduces Radon 2025-2030 

Galicia is the Spanish community more affected by the exhibition to owed radon its geology. Attributes him to him between about 10 and 15% of the total lung cancer cases and 7% of deaths.

For this reason the Directorate General of Public Health of Galicia has designed a nationwide pioneering strategy to reduce levels of radon in the period 2025-2030 and that it was published on 7 November 2024.

The Galician Strategy Reduces Radon 2025-2030 is articulated around five axes of activity with specific measures and it foresees to create the Technical Control Branch of the Radon.
