Forced postures are postures in which the body is not in a natural position and in which tension is caused in different parts of the body. Static postures, that is, when a position is maintained over a very prolonged period of time, are also regarded as forced postures.
Forced postures, aggravated by exerting force, handling loads or working at very high rates, can cause musculoskeletal injuries.
The most common injuries caused by excess effort are pulled muscles and sprains, especially in the lumbar area. They also cause inflammation that causes pain and discomfort in the back and upper limbs.
They are the cause of nearly half of all work injuries.
